Dec. 12, 1953 - Queen Greets Queen In Tonga: Queen Elizabeth II continuing her Royal Tour arrived in Tonga from Suva, Fiji. It was a day of cheering, dancing and feasting. Tonga's great welcome started with two of the world's reigning Queens sharing a joke that began on Coronation day. As the Queen and the towering Queen Salote drove off from the festooned wharf a cloud sent down a token shower of rain.
