Queen Salote of Tonga, who was 65, died in Auckland, New Zealand on Dec. 15, 1965. Queen Salote won the love of Londoners by driving in an open carriage in pouring rain to the Coronation in 1953. This picture was taken in 1953 when Queen Elizabeth II visited Tonga, and shows Queen Salote greeting her when she arrived at Nuku'alofa
