Jul. 07, 1958 - The Queen goes down a mine - wearing white boiler suit: Queen Elizabeth II yesterday went down the Rothes Pit, near Kirkcaldy, Fifeshire as part of her tour of Scotland. It was her first descent of a coal mine, and she wore a smart white boiler suit, white headscarf and helmet - and carried a Miner's Lamp. Photo shows the Queen leaving the cage which brought her up, after going down the mine yesterday
