Queen Juliana of the Netherlands gives knighthood
Sep. 09, 1974 - Awards for crew who flew Japanese Terrorists to Damascus: A hero's welcome was given to the crew of the Boeing 707 - two Dutch and one British - who flew the Japanese terrorists to Damascus on Thursday. Three of the four Japanese held nine hostages. including there French Ambassador tr the Hague in the Embassy. in order to obtain the release of the fourth terrorist, yutaka Furaya. The crew of the plane were Flight Commander Pim Sierks and his co-pilot, Rudd van Der Zwall, both Dutch, and Mr. Bernie Knight, the flight-engineer, who is British.
