Aug. 08, 1967 - The Queen Mary Is Sold To Long Beach, California: The famous liner Queen Mary yesterday became the property of the city of Long Beach, California, at a ceremony at the Savoy Hotel in London. The man who bought her for Long Beach was their Vice-Mayor, Mr. Robert F. Crow. Behind Mr. Crow as he signed the contract was Sir Basil Smallpiece, chairman of the Cunard Steamship Company, who owned the liner until yesterday.
