Jul. 27, 1967 - Queen Mary Liner sold to Long Beach, California: The 81, 000-ton Cunard liner, Queen Mary, has been sold to the city of Long Beach, California, who offered 1, 230, 000. The contract was signed in London today. The city itself will convert portions of the vessel - at least 150, 000 square feet into a modernistic Museum of the sea. The man museum portion of the vessel would be leased to reputable firms for operation of hotel-concention facilities, quality restaurants, shops featuring British and other foreign imports and for world trade and ocean resource offices.
