: Queen Mother in Chinon, France

Queen Mother in Chinon, France

Apr. 20, 1963 - Yesterday, Queen Elizabeth, who was on her way to a vacation in the Loire Valley, messed up the official schedule and protocol in order to stop spontaneously in Chinon to revive the memory of Jeanne d'Arc. The Queen walked the small streets of the town which are rich with historical memories. She was interested in the origin and history of the old house with blackened beams with the sign A Jeanne d'Arc on it. The current owner, a shoemaker, gave the Queen the explanations she demanded. Picture: Queen Elizabeth, holding a bouquet of red roses in her hand that an inhabitant of Chinon had offered her spontaneously in front of the shoemaker's shop
