May 05, 1972 - Queen mother opens exhibition of Historic churches in the chapter house Westminster Abbey; This morning H.M. Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother opened an exhibition of Historic churches in the Chapel House of Westminster Abbey. This is part of the Historic churches Preservation trust's 20th Anniversary Appeal in aid of our historic churches, many hundreds of which are faced with costs of maintenance and restoration far beyond the pockets of local congregations.
