Queen Mother opens exhibition, City of London

Jun. 06, 1978 - Queen mother opens London Home for Overlord Embroidery; On the 34th anniversary of D-day, the Queen Mother opened today a permanent exhibition of the Overlord Embroidery, in the Historic Port Tun Room at Whitthreads Headquarters in the City of London. The Tapestry, which is 272 feet long was commissioned by Lord Dulverton from the Royal Shcool of Needlework to commemorate the Allied invasion of Normandy which was code named Overlord.
