Queen of the Seas by Arthur Fleischman, Australia House

Feb. 02, 1956 - World's Largest piece of Perspex carving: A press preview was held this afternoon at Australia House to see the Australian sculptor, Dr. Arthur Fleischman's new work a 7ft. figure The Queen of the Seas carved from a solid half-ton block of Perspex, which he will display tomorrow and on Monday. It is to be placed in the Embarcation hall of the new Pacific Steam Navigation liner Reina del Mar, which is now completing its fitting out operations in Harland and Wolf's shipyards at Belfast. This is the largest piece of sculpture ever to be carved from this new material.
