Rabbi's Son Chosen as Archbishop of Paris

February 6, 1981 - A Polish Rabbi's son has been confirmed as the Polish Popes choice to become the Archbishop of Paris. Monsignor JEAN MARIE LUSTIGER, who was received into the church as a convert shortly before his Jewish mother was killed by the Nazis in Auschwitz, commented: For me, there is no contradiction to be of Jewish birth and to become a Catholic. After all, Jesus of Nazareth was King of the Jews. I am faithful to my ancestors, as Archbishop of Paris are almost automatically named Cardinals, Monsignor Lustiger, is at present the Bishop of Orleans
