Sep. 09, 1958 - Race Riots in Notting Hill Gate. Screaming women and helmetless Policemen. Police reinforcements were rushed to London's Notting Hill Gate. last night as race riots flared up for the second time in twenty four hours. The riot began after gangs of white youths had jeered at black people. About thirteen people were arrested - and a number were injured by broken bottles etc. Photo shows the scene during the battle of Notting Hill Gate last night. Many arrests were made
