RAF mountain rescue team give first aid in Cyprus
May 17, 1955 - Footwork rescues fliers: In Cyprus, Britain's Royal Air Force has formed a Mountain Rescue Team, its first outside of Britain, to bring first aid to occupants of planes forced down in the mountains or other remote parts of the Mediterranean island. 20 mile exercises every weekend have familiarised the team with the terrain.
