Jan. 01, 1981 - DEMONSTRATION NEAR THE RUSSIAN EMBASSY OVER The DETENTION OF RAOUL WALLENBURG. A delegation handed in a letter addressed to the Soviet Prime Minister Leonid Brezhnev, as they held a torchlight vigil near the Russian Embassy in London on Saturday night. They were protesting over the detention of Mr Raoul Wallenburg, who was arrested by the Russians in Hungary in 1944 as a spy and the Russians said he died in jail in 1947. This they think is a lie as there have been many reports that Mr Wallenburg has been seen in a Russian jail recently. As a Swedish diplomat in Budapest during the German occupation, Mr Wallenburg got may Jews out of the country by getting them dual passports, which enabled them to go to Sweden.
