Mar. 03, 1956 - Back To 1066-And All That. Marching Along A Roman Road: Seven members of the Surrey Walking Club this morning were to be seen - dressed Battle of Hastings Armour -marching along Fosse Way - an ancient Roman Road between Bth and cirenceser. It is an experiment to show whether in October 1066 Harold and his men could have marched 200 miles in ten days. The march is being filmed for the B.B.C. Television programme Up To Date to be shown in June. The history books state that in 1066 King Harold and his men marched 200 miles from Stamford Bridge in Yorkshire where he defeated King Harald of Norway - down to London and then on to Sussex for the Battle of Hastings. Photo Shows: Having lunch between the march along the ancient Roman Road this morning are L-R: Ken Best and Bill Burgess - members of the Surrey Walking club
