Jul. 07, 1953 - The Home-Made Tank In Which Eight Czechs Broke Through The Iron Curtain. Week after week for two years a young Czech mechanic in Pilsen, collected pieces of scrap iron and steel. Secretly at night he fashioned the crap into a replica of an armoured vehicle of the Czech-army. Then-the construction tank completed and driving his own home made armoured car - he brought eight people to safety to the West - in one of the most amazing escapes from Czechoslovakia yet recorded.
