Apr. 14, 1956 - Seven Men Escaped From The French Foreign Legion - Brought To Britain By Tanker: Seven Germans on a route March through Algeria - as members of the French Foreign Legion - when they saw a German Ship in the dock. They returned to barracks - put on their civil-aim clothes under their uniforms - and swam out to ship. After hiding the vessel for some time - they gave themselves up to the captain. He said he would have to contact to French authorities - Which was sending a destroyer. That night - the skipper turned his back wheeler men were fitted with life-jackets-they jumped over board and were picked up by a British Tanker. The man were brought to Britain and taken to Winchester Jail to await a ship take them home to Germany.
