Aug. 08, 1956 - Four Polish Pilots escape to freedom in Army planes. land in Austria: Four Polish Pilots escaped from Poland in two army Planes. They flew from Deblin Airfield near Warsaw - and were fired on by the Military soon after taking off but they carried on and eventually made forced landings in Austrian fields. One of the machines Kruk (22) and Bogdan Biskupski (21) immediately applied for Political asylum. The other plane came down in the forest near Kirchberg and the two occupants also escaped serious injury and applied for political asylum. Photo shows the two Polish Pilots Kruk and Biskupski one of whom covers himself seen at Police H.Q. at Krems, Lower Austria when they applied for political asylum
