After Ten Years of Peace Europe Still Has 225, 000 Rufugees - In Camps Dotted Over Europe, and Especially in West Germany, are some 225, 000 pathetie people, old folke, moths and fathers with young children, and virile persons who could be producitively working. Ten Years after the war, they are still labelled officially refugees and it is to help them that the United Nations Association is launching a new Appeal this Autumn to provide them with better living conditions, perminent homes andeducation. Man problerm is that the refuges themselves are not easily assimilated, and the poupulations in which the camps are situated do not take kindly to this assimilation. As hopes of ever being repatriated fade, new offorts must be made to wipe out this Camp life with all its unnaturalness, and help some form of intagrations This is one of a series of pictures taken at some of the camps in Germany showing the living conditions of the people and something of their individual family tragedies
