Nov. 11, 1961 - Refugees from Tristan Da Guhna Arrive at Temporary Homes - A Former Army Camp in Surrey: The 264 islanders rescued from the volcanic eruption on Tristan de Cunha arrived a their temporary homes - a former Army Camp at Pandell, nr. Meretham, Surrey - where they will live together as a community until they are re-settled. Photo shows 85 year old Mrs. Jane Lavarrello (Grahny Jane to the islanders) is helped by a Nurse and W.V.S. members - on arrival at the Camp this morning. Mrs. Lavarrelle is the Island's oldest inhabitant 11
