Nov. 11, 1961 - Refugees From Tristan Da Cunha Settle In At Former Army Camp The 264 islanders rescued from the volcanic eruption on Tristan da Cunha arrived at their temporary homes, a former Army camp at Pendell, near Mertsham, Surrey. They will live there until re-settled. Photo Shows- The youngest refugee from Tristan da Cunha - little Margaret Green - she was five days old when the volcano erupted. She is shown here being fed by one of the many W.V.S. workers at the camp
