Refugees
Dec. 18, 1974 - Medical Team For Kurdish Refugees.: The Save the Children Fund is to send a medical team to the Iran/Iraq border to assist thousands of Kurdistan refugees in the war-torn area. A team which will include Dr. David Nabarro, 25, nephew of the late Sir Gerald Nabarro, and two nurses together with a field director who will be leaving London in a few days. The move comes within hour of the return from a 10-day fact-finding tourcef Iraqui and Iranian Kurdistan by Dr. Noel Moynihan, a top Belgravia doctor who is vice-chairman of the Fund. It will be the first British Aid team in the area since the war between the Kurds and the Iraqui Government troops started. There are over 250, 000 refugees pouring into Iran. Most of them are women - many of them pregnant - and children. Photo shows Refugees in the war torn area where the medical team is being sent to lend assistance
