Reg Prentice, Labour MP and minister, asked to retire

Jul. 07, 1975 - Mr. Reg Prentice the Minister for Overseas Development is ousted by his constituency Labour Party: Mr. Reg Prentice, the Overseas Development Minister, was last night disowned by his constituency Labour Party committee at Newham North East, and formally asked to retire as a Labour MP at the next general election. Voting against him in the Party's general management committee was 29 to 19. Mr. Prentice thus becomes the first Cabinet Minister to be publicly repudiated by a local party.
