Jan. 01, 1961 - Opening of London's Newest Luxury Hotel; Mr. Reginald Maudling the President of the Board of Trade this morning performed the official opening ceremony of Carlton Towers - London's newest luxury hotel in Sloane Street. At 208ft. it is London's tallest residential building - has 318 rooms with accommodation for about 450 guests - and is owned by the Hotel Corporation of Great Britain a subsidiary of the Hotel Corporation of America.
