Rene Bennett on motorcycle for six-day Scottish event
Feb. 26 Rip-roaring Rene's a ton-up mum: Rene Bennett is a smiling mother of two, a woman who spends half her time changing nappies and cooking lunch for her two children, and half her time amongst the motor bikes in her East End motor cycle business. When, that is, she's not busy out on the tracks in the country tearing along like greased lighting over bumps and ruts and jolts in her efforts to beat the men at their own game. For Rene is one of the few women contenders in motorcycle events in the country. And on May 3rd begins a stamina-testing event - the Scottish, an 850-mile gruelling trial over heavy mountain country taking six days to complete. Rene will be riding 250 cc Greeves - and she's out to show that women are good at anything when they try. Meanwhile she's feminine too - as she looks after Julia, 6, and young Charles (he'll be one while she's in Scotland) at home. Ton-up Mum Rene
