Reproduction of damaged painting by Rubens
Feb. 02, 1959 - Acid-Attack against Rubens-painting: An unknown culprit attacked on Febr. 26th in the old Pinakothek in Munich the Peter-Paul Rubens-painting little crash of hell of the damned by acid (probably accretion). Works of Restoration were began immediately, but the damage probably will be immense to save the painting. It has a worth of some millions of D-Marks but it had not been insured. Photo Shows a reproduction of this painting before destruction
