Rescued miners, Hickleton Main Colliery, Yorkshire

Dec. 12, 1960 - Miners rescued after being trapped for 18 hours. Seven miners were brought up safely last night after spending 18 hours underground at Hickleton Main Colliery, near Doncaster. They were trapped half a mile below ground by a fall or rock. Fifty rescuers worked non stop to clear the rock. Photo shows Four of the miners enjoy the best cup of tea they've ever tasted after their rescue last night. They are (L to R). Ray King, Eddie Fitton, John Brockhurst and Reg Napper
