Aug. 08, 1963 - in 300 working-hours restored: The Famous Madonna in the rosary of Tilmann Riemen Schneider was restored from the national office for monument cultivation in Munich. The beautiful artwork was found in a field after the robbery of the church of Volkach and was covered in soot, in many pieces broken and smeared with red shoe-cream. The restoration of the precious sculpture cost nearly 10, 000 DM. On 15th August The Madonna returns to her pilgrimage church after a year of adventures Photo shows the restored Madonna with 25 new beams, which were under great difficulties to remake
