It was built for the film 10 Rillington Place, all about notorious English mass-murderer John Reginald Christie, who, in 1950, framed another man, Timothy John Evans, for crimes committed by Christie himself, In the film based on the book by Ludovic Kennedy, and directed by Richard Fleischer, Richard Attenboroough plays the monstrous Christie; John Hurt plays Timothy Evans, and Andre Morell plays Mr. Justice Lewis, the judge who presided.
