Richard Burton and Marcello Mastroianni discuss script
Mar. 22 British actor Richard Burton and Marcello Mastroianni are shooting the film Death in Rome based on Robert Katz's book that concerns the attempt of Via Rasella in Rome where 33 German soldiers were killed and 335 hostages were shot at the Fosse Ardeatine, near the town. Burton plays the role of the SS colonel Manfred Kappler who ordered the reprisal and Marcello Mastroianni plays the role of a partisan priest Don Pietro. The film is directed by Yorgo Pan Cosmatos
