Richard Todd and Miss UK in practice drop, Aldershot

Dec. 02, 1969 - DECEMBER 2nd 1968 RICHARD TODD AT ALDERSHOT, Today was regimental reunion day for RICHARD TODD. Currently starring as ex-sgt, Pilot Trigg in the Cupid Production THE LAST OF THE LONG HAIRED BOYS, Richard returned to the Depot Parachute Regiment with co-star Peter Marinker playing Dearborn, for a crash course in Parachute Management at the request of executive producer Jay Webb. Although The Last of the Long Haired Boys is more concerned with exploring the psychology of the fighter aces of the 1940s than trying to recreate actual battles for the screen, Jay Webb is, nevertheless, insistent on meticulous attention to detail in any sequences which concern service procedure. Taking part in a practice drop was the reigning Miss United Kingdom, KATHLEEN WINSTANLEY. The invitation to attend Peter's instruction session was extended to Kathleen at the Coronation Ball for 1968/69 Miss World Contest. It was there that Richard Todd, a member of the judging panel, discovered Kathleen was crazy about sky diving.
