The press conference was held shortly after Mr. Kennedy had met with Secretary-General U Thant. Mr. Kennedy had just returned from his visit to the Far Kast where he held discussions with the leaders of the Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. En route to the United States, Mr. Kennedy conferred with Prime Minister Sir Alec Douglas-Home and Foreign Secretary R.A. Butler in the United Kingdom
