Robert Powell, English actor, appearing in Travesties
Mar. 22 Jesus Christ and Dada: Robert Powell, who is to star as Jesus Christ in the new epic film directed by Zeffirelli, will take on an entirely different role tonight at the Albery Theatre, St. Martin's Lane. He plays the wildly eccentric Dadaist Tristan Tzara in Tom Stoppard's play Travesties, but on September 1st he will have to hand the part over to Tim Curry because he will have to begin filming Jesus Christ in Rome. The Royal Shakespeare Company production of Travesties opened in the Aldwych, and has just had a 5 week break before re-opening at the Albery. Robert Powell took this break as an opportunity to grow his Jesus Christ beard
