Roman Piety, possibly by Rubens
Mar. 27 Might Be A Rubens: Is Mr. Fabert, Business MAn in CAen, the happy owner of a Rubens in 1952 in an Aucton he has bought a painting for as little as To NF (1000 old Francs). Cleaning his plaster covered painting Mr. Fabert noticed the vigour of the strokes, the brightness of colors. Connaisseurs affirm that the painting painted in the XVIIth century should be a Rubens named Roman Piety showing a woman permitted to see her father in prison and giving her breast to him. The painting was valued 15, 000 Francs in 1890, some 3 million actual old Francs. Only specialists will be able to fix Mr. Fabert. Photo shows. The painting Roman Piety which might be a Rubens
