Feb. 02, 1954 - Ronald Chesney found shot dead near Cologne. His wife and mother-in-law were murdered: Ronald John Chesney, 45 year old smuggler, swashbuckler and International rogue - shot himself in a wood outside Cologne, Germany, yesterday. For the first time he was openly named as the suspected killer of his wife Mrs. Veronica Isobel Chesney and her mother self-styled Lady Menzies who were found murdered in their old people's home at Montpelier Road, Ealing, last Thursday. It was also announced that twenty-seven years ago - he was - under his old name of John Donald Merrett, charged in Scotland with the murder of his mother Mrs. Bertha Merrett - but a verdict of Not Proven was reached.
