Rotting garbage during strike in Berkeley Square, London
Nov. 03, 1970 - London's Fire Hazard: London: Mountains of rotting garbage clog London's fashionable Berkeley Square today as the strike of London's Municipal workers continued. Officials today warned that the Huge Piles of Uncollected Rubbish Clogging many of Downtown London's Landmarks could ignite a fire such as that which killed 14 persons in France during the weekend. Despite the warnings, fireworks were used in Thursday's Traditional Guy Fawkes Burn-up.The council workers strike is now in its sixth week. The workers are demanding a Living Wage in the form of a 55 shilling a week pay increase
