Roy Dotrice, Gene Foad and Simon Bell as Charles Dickens
Jan. 01, 1976 - Dickens of London New Television Series Dickens of London is a 13 hour series tracing the life of Charles Dickens from the age of eleven to his death at the age of 58. The Yorkshire TV production which follows the writer's life from his early penniless childhood in Chatham and London during the 1820s to the unprecedented success he later enjoyed on both sides of the Atlantic before his early death in 1870. Because of the time span involved, three actors play the role of Dickens, newcomer Simon Bell as the boy, Gene Foad as the writer as a young man, and Roy Dotrice as Dickens from the age of 39.
