Royal Canadian Regiment parade in Germany
Oct. 17, 1955 - No butchers.. but the soldiers of the second Battalions the Royal Canadian Regiment today paraded in Fort York near Soest/Westfalen Germany before Field Marshal His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh. The Duke came to Germany in a helicopter for the presentation of colors to the 2nd batt. The Royal Canadian Reg following an old tradition it is only allowed to the soldiers of this battalion to wear beards. The axe on the shoulder of this soldier is the sign for the Canadian pioneers
