May 05, 1956 - Manchester City wins the F.A. Cup. Photo shows Manchester City goalkeeper, Bert Trautmann, dives at the feet of the Birmingham City inside-right, Peter Murphy during the F.A. Cup Final at Wembley today. Trautmann, who was recently elected Footballer of the Year, was given a great ovation by the huge crowd, after the match. During the closing stages of the game he sustained a neck injury, which unsteadied him for a while, but he still carried on playing. Manchester City won by 3-1
