Jul. 07, 1955 - Genoa Gets Firmani For A Record Fee Of35, 000: Charlton Athletic agreed last night to accept a record transfer fee of35, 000 for Eddie Firmani, 22, their South African inside forward. The offer came from the Italian club, Sampdoria of Genoa, and the deal was completed in London last night when Firmani signed a two-year contract. If he signed for another English League club he would have received only10 signinon fee, and a maximum weekly wage of15. His contract with Sampdoria will net him something in the region of100 a week - perhaps more and he will get about5, 000 as a signing-on-bonus.
