Jun. 07, 1974 - June 7th, 1974 Riot ends Argentine Soccer Championship Serious rioting broke out between fans and police during the Argentine Professional football championship in Rosario, Province of Santa Fe. The championship was being decided between two Rosario teams, Newells Old Boys and Rosario Central. At least 70 people were injured and more than 100 arrested, when play was stopped at 2-2. The Argentine F.A. are expected to announce the match null and void. Photo Shows: (top) Newells fans climbed through the wire netting, as tear gas was fired against them and the spectators from where the police were attacked.
