Sep. 09, 1954 - Roman Temple may be saved, work again postponed as Works Minister calls conference: The remains of the Roman nithreic Temple uncovered on the site of a proposed block of offices near the Mansion House, City of London, may after all be saved from the bulldozers which were due to shatter it on Monday. This dramatic news came yesterday after an unexpected conference called by Sir David Scolan, Works Minister, but there is a snag. To preserve the temple beneath the 14-storey block of offices that is to be built on its site will cost 500, 000. Queues of people have formed up every day to view the ruins of the temple. Photo shows they came to take photographs.: Mr Ciroma, of Bornu, Northern Nigeria, was among the visitors who went to see the Roman ruins this morning
