Oct. 10, 1955 - Russian soldiers leave Finland Porkkala District for home Russian soldiers and their families who have been living in the Porkkala District of Finland have started being evacuated back to Russia. The first batch ten railway carriages of them left recently and the authorities anticipate that by Christmas the last of them will have returned home after which the area is being handed back to the Finns by the Russians.
