Oct. 28, 1955 - The oldest man in the Soviet Union-and probably the world. 147 year old collective farmer: Said to be the oldest man in the Soviet Union-and probably the world-is 147 year old Collective Farmer Makhmud Fivazov-who lives in a village in the Aserbaijanian area of Russia-2, 100 metres above sea level. He has worked since his youth and for more than 100 years he has been a Shepherd atten ding flocks ij mountains and valleys. He is still active and takes a great interest in his new developments. Fivazov is head of a dynasty of 152 people. He is the father 23. His oldest dauther is nearly 120 years of age. Members of his family include livestock breeders, teachers, fruit and grain growers and oil workers.
