Mar. 03, 1956 - Mutilated Italian Hero Threatens to jump from window he thought his wife had been kidnapped.: Aldo Pescatori, who lost both feet in Russia while serving with the Iltalian Army during the war, and was awarded the Italian Gold Military Model. threatened to jump to his death from his 15th. floor window in the Via Chiana, Rome, beacuse he believed his wife had been kidbnapped. She had only gone to see her husband's parents - a General in the Italian Air Force, and his mother, to discuss with them the strange behaviors of her husband. After barricading his flat with furniture, Pescatori perched himself on the window ledge and threw his crutches into the street below. Firemen stood by for an hour with a net to catch him if he jumped - but police managed to enter the flat and take the man to hospital where it is thought his long imprisonment in Russia has affected his mind.
