Jan. 01, 1956 - Porekala Returned To Finland: The protocol of the handling over by Russia to Finland of the former Russian naval base of Porekala, which for the last eleven years has been on lease to Russia, was signed on Thursday, at the Russian Embassy in Helsinki, and Porekala again became Finnish territory, signing for Russia were the First Deputy Premier, Mr. Pervuhin, and the Ambassador, Mr. Lebrev, whilst Finnish Premier, Mr. Kekkonen and Foreign Minister, Dr. Virolainen, signed for Finland.
