Nov. 04, 1957 - Soviet Sends Up Sputnick II'. New Picture Of Their Experiments With Dog Carrying Rockets: Co-inciding with the news that the Soviet had released Sputnick II - satellite - containing a dog new pictures have been received in London of their experiments with dog carrying rocket. A dog was sent up in a globe - inside a rocket to the height of 100 Kilometres - and returned safely to earth by parachute. Photo shows The actual rocket after it had been discharged - it is just leaving the spiral launching frame. The dog was returned to earth - by parachute
