Jan. 01, 1969 - Soviet Ambassador Calls on Foreign Secretary: The Soviet Ambassador, Mr. Smirnovsky, this morning called on the Foreign Secretary, Mr. Michael Stewart, at the Foreign Office. The meeting was at Mr. Smirnovsky's request and it is believed the Ambassador wanted to inform Britain of new soviet Proposals for peace in the Middle east.
