May 05, 1970 - Party Congress of the German Social Democratic Party was opened: In Saarbrucken the Federal Party Congress of the German Social Democratic Party was opened. It takes place under the motto Extension of social democracy'. There were welcome many guests from inland and abroad, such as the Austrian chancellor Bruno Kreisky, the chairman of the social democratic party of Denmark, Jens Otto Krag, the chairman of the Socialist International organisation, Bruno Pittermann as well as representatives of the governments of Great Britain, Sweden, Italy, Belgium, Norway and Switzerland. In four days'consultations (from May 11th to 14th, 1970) the 344 delegates will define their situation and lay down their policy for the coming years.
