May 05, 1980 - Gustav Husak In Moscow: General Secretary of the Communist Party and President of Czechoslovakia Gustav Husak paid a short friendly visit to Moscow on November 2 at the invitation of the Soviet Communist Party Central Committee. In Moscow, Gustav Husak met with Leonid Brezhnev, General Secretary of the Soviet Communist Party Central Committee. The two statesmen discussed the implementation of the conclusions of the 25th CPSU Congress and the 15th Congress of the Czechoslovak Communist Party, the October sessions of the two parties Central committees, further development of soviet-Czechoslovak cooperation, and international topics. Later in the day, Gustav Husak presented Leonid Brezhnev with the highest Czechoslovak distinctions - the second Gold Star of the Hero of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, and the Klement Gottwald Order. These distinctions were awarded to Leonid Brezhnev for his outstanding contribution to the liberation of Czechoslovakia from the fascist occupation, for the development of Soviet-Czechoslovak friendship and for his contribution to the struggle for peace and social progress all over the world.
